There are various subsidies for facade insulation
When installing facade insulation in Flanders, Brussels, and Belgium in general, there are various premiums available that can significantly lighten your investment. Here is an overview so that you can quickly see which premiums you are entitled to.
In 2026, the Flemish premium for facade insulation is limited to low and middle incomes. Owners with a higher income no longer qualify for a premium for outer wall insulation.
The premium is awarded per square meter of facade insulation. The exact amount depends on the applicant’s income category.
When facade insulation is combined with asbestos removal, an additional bonus per square meter can be awarded in Flanders.
Conditions:
- The house is at least 15 years old
- The works are carried out by a certified contractor
- The insulation meets the current technical standards
- The invoice amount is at least €1,000 excluding VAT

In the Brussels-Capital Region, owners and co-owners can apply for a RENOLUTION premium for facade insulation. The premium amount is income-dependent.
The support averages between €50 and €90 per square meter of facade insulation.
Conditions:
- Minimum insulation value R ≥ 3.5 m²K/W
- Works carried out by a contractor
- Application via IRISbox within the applicable period
In Wallonia, facade insulation is part of the Housing Premiums (Primes Habitation). These premiums are available for homes older than 15 years.
The base premium for wall insulation is approximately €8.80 to €52.80 per square meter, multiplied by an income coefficient.
Conditions:
- An energy audit is mandatory before the start of the works
- The insulation must meet the technical requirements
- The premium is awarded after correct follow-up of the audit process
Throughout Belgium, the reduced VAT rate of 6% may apply to facade insulation works, provided that:
- The house must be older than 10 years
- The works are carried out by a contractor
This VAT benefit is separate from any premiums and can also be applied when no subsidy is granted.

Premium conditions for Flanders, Brussels & Wallonia
- Flemish Region: To be eligible for a premium, you must use a facade insulation system with a minimum thickness of 10 cm (λ-value 0.032 W/mK) to achieve an R-value of at least 3.00 m²K/W. More information via www.mijnverbouwpremie.be
- Brussels Capital Region: Here, a facade insulation thickness of at least 12 cm is required (with λ-value 0.032 W/mK) to achieve the minimum R-value of 3.50 m²K/W. More information via www.renolution.brussels
- Walloon Region: In Wallonia, a required R-value of at least 3.50 m²K/W also applies, which usually corresponds to an insulation thickness of 12 cm with a λ-value of 0.032 W/mK. More information via energie.wallonie.be
